Up Idol 2 Announces Powerful Line Up

7

Get ready for another new season of goddesses coming together to be friends and have fun on Up Idol. I loved the season one that included my favorites Zhao Liying, Ouyang Nana, Xie Na, Ada Choi, Athena Chu, Brigitte Lin, etc, but this time, it is time to meet the new beautiful idols. I see a lot of amazing names in the list, including lots of Hong Kongese actresses. Be ready for the fun to begin!

Bad news as Up Idol 偶像来了 officially changed name to 我们来了We are Coming. They changed it because of a naming rights problem. Well, I am pretty sure they wil stick to the same English name. The reason was because 偶像来了 got registered recently by another company.

The show is already preparing to invite male guest to light up the mood! From the stills, it looks like Yuan Hong is the first to get the invitation! Media says Johnny Huang may be invited, but the actor’s agent says they did not receive such an invitation. Will see what the future brings to us…

Woo yes I approve of this season’s casting!! Karen Mok omg yiiiis. Also Qiao En jie jie! I was rewatching ‘Fated to love you’ the other day… Can you believe it’s been 10 years? Did you catch her and Du Chun ‘s CP on ‘The Greatest Love’? Cute stuff ^^

hope for the producers to makes us get all the feels with these strong women, none of that popularity idol stuff they had at the beginning of season 1. Editors need to up the ante with narratives to really bring out the best in each of the members’ characters!

Me too! I approve of this season’s casting… it is similar to the first, but also seems very fresh 😀 Chen Qiao En is really good on variety shows! >< A little sad Ada Choi and Zhao Liying will not take part in this season….

Oh yeah… that was so horrible. It was always the same people who win each time (Xie Na, Zhao Liying, etc..) and the same teams each week.

      Hey Dramarian ^^
Yes, here is the link of the first episode of season one recapped by Archidisign:
      https://cdramadevotee.com/2015/08/04/idol-up-fast-review-from-the-first-episode/

In a nutshell, there is around 10 super idols, all females, who meet together for every episode. Some can be very young (Ouyang Nana had 14-15 years) or very matured (Brigitte Lin, super star from the 80s). They visit different regions of Mainland China and participate in all kind of activities to make them use their “idol” skills (they had a fashion show, cooking contest, etc). 🙂

Wow Carina and Angie Hong Kong goddesses!!! Maybe they can invite Carina hubby Tony Leung as a guest. I hope Jiang Xin is an official cast member. All I can think about is how Ming Xi is gonna stand like a giant next to the of the cast

Yess! It is amazing they scouted Carina, Angie, and Karen Kwok. I don’t really watch their shows, but even I know their names. Jiang Xin have a very dry humour, she would be fun to watch ^^ And I don’t really now Ming Xi, but she is TALL xD

I love Jiang Xin humour too…Ming Xi is 5’10 so even without heels she gonna pretty tall compared to everyone else I think she is an interesting cast since I’ve only seen Sui He another model participate in variety shows like in happy camp

Haha yes I saw Ming Xi on Zhejiang TV’s 24 Hours (though she was known by her birth name “Xi Meng Yao) looools I was like this lady looks so familiar! Funny how both Qiao En and Ming Xi were on ’24 Hours’ as female guests… If only Jiang Xin could come on Up Idol! That’s 3 awesome ladies who have been on these two shows!

  3. Whew, I was thinking of skipping this season but;… Chen Qiao En? I’m on the boat. Jiang Xin’s an icing to the cake. Honestly, I’m not interested in/familiar with half the list of cast here even though they are ‘legends’. I think the smartest thing about Up Idol is that their cast attracts a wide range of audiences. So there are people (like me) who are here for 1 or 2 person but end up watching the entire season and liking everyone anyway,

The way you describe Idol Up reminds me of Kpop groups. In groups like super junior where there is 10-13 members, it is easy to find at least one guy to call “oppa”. This way, the group can easily gain support from a wide range of people. Idol Up probably use the same strategy… As for me, I am rooting for Jiang Xin 😛

    • Same, I am in the generation that missed out on the Hong Kong/TVB’s golden years so these amazing actresses don’t remind me of any nostalgic dramas or movies. But the fact that they are all united for this new season sounds pretty promising. Same! I watched for Zhao Liying during season one and ended up liking nearly everyone (a few misses, but I will not name them since they are still nice people).

Aww it’s hard to say goodbye to the old cast cause I really fell in love with all of them. I decided to watch solely for Bridgette Lin, but I ended up enjoying them all. Though there’s no one I’m really interested on this season (mainly cause I know only two of them) I’ll give it a shot. I really want Zhao Wei on the show btw.

    • Similar case here. Watched for Zhao Liying and ended up loving everyone. Wish this season they had Jiang Xin. :/ I like the cast in general this season, but the absense of He Jiong and the bad editing makes it a lot less enjoyable than say season one.
