[Storyline Short Recap] The Mystic Nine Ep.21-28

One of the very few good things about the Happy Camp episode was that I learned two things. First, I messed up all these times because… it is Fo Ye, not Fu Ye!! Second, there is an official name for the OTP, QiYue couple :3 What a cute name ^^ Anyhow, here comes a new HUGE post of gifs for the drama, The Mystic Nine.

Ep.20-24

A heavy concentration of the scenes were in the cave. Our little group goes through some dangerous situations that involves hallucinations, Er Ye finds symbols related to his ancestors inside and the group meet an old Chinese worker who was trapped in the tomb all these years.

Years ago, the ancestors of Er Ye off played the Japanese people’s plans. Mad, the Japanese attacked the old worker and made him blind. They also discover that the Japanese people are after a precious object. Later, Er Ye, Fo Ye and Ba Ye get lost in the mine. Each of them flashback to their respective lives. Fo Ye has a long flashback of his beautiful love story with Xinyue.

Er Ye rethinks about the death of Ya Tou and has a moment of reflection over how he couldn’t do anything to save the woman he loves.

Ba Ye has a flashback over one fortune telling story he did extremly well as well as the help of Fo Ye when he first arrived in town.

When the three of them finally come together, they are able to finally solve the maze and get out. Here, Ba Ye is really happy to see Fo Ye.

  

In the meantime, the bad guys are coming together to plot their plan against Fo Ye. Chen Pi and Captain Lu understands that the other can easily betray him, but chose to stay as a team for common interest.

The Caucasian dude is happy as always to have allies that are Chinese and likes to talk about all the gossips he knows (for example, Ba Ye’s “legendary” fortune telling stories).

Huo San Niang tells her new allies about how Zhang Yishan became famous: he miraculous brought the big Buddha status from a mountain outside town to his house.

That is why everyone is so obsessed with him. Villains call BS over this story and assume he must had used a trick.

Er Ye finds the exit for everyone, but Fo Ye wants to find the special object Japanese people are searching before leaving. Er Ye convinces him to stay behind and let himself go instead. They wait for Er Ye.

The episode 24 ends with Xinyue worried that her father is coming to Changsha and is stressing out.

Episode 25-28

However, it turns out it is not daddy, but uncle who came to visit! Xinyue immediately adopt a more relax composture. Uncle tries to persuade Xinyue to go back home where they will find her another fiance. Xinyue refuses saying that she already has one, Fo Ye. Uncle reminds her that because they financed her whole life so she has to go back and marry a man the Yi family choses for her. She says that Fo Ye will pay her father back all the money she costed to educate (girl, do you realize how much that is… ._.) and that even if he hits her, she will stay in Changsha by Fo Ye’s side.

This makes uncle laugh who reveals to her that he is actually here to tell her the good news: she can stay if she successful become the wifey. Indeed, father agrees that this is a good marriage since Fo Ye is a powerful man in Changsha. Uncle also tells Xinyue that a man who bought a jade sculpture at their Yi Hotel got killed in Changsha and she needs to be careful.

Xinyue goes to see Jiu Ye (9th Master) to tell him what her uncle just told her because Fo Ye told her before leaving to the tomb that if anything unusual happens, she has to report to Jiu Ye. Later, Chen Pi arrives with a real jade from the Yi Hotel and tells them that it is fake (he undamaged the jade before coming). Jiu Ye immediately understands what is happening and tells Chen Pi that he is right, but it is not a problem from the Yi Hotel since he has here another real jade from them. This means that there is nothing wrong with the Yi Hotel. This gets Chen Pi mad and he goes complain to the Caucasian bad guy. Caucasian guy and Jiu Ye both understands that the other is a pro at mind game.

At the tomb, Er Ye finally gets out. He is wounded and gives a weird object to Fo Ye before fainting. Everyone FINALLY leaves the cave.

Fo Ye is back at his house where Xinyue reprimands him for getting hurt. She brings her cousin (a doctor) to come look over him and hears happily that he is fine. However, we later gets a few scene where Fo Ye still looks sick as he has hallucinations. While cleaning himself, Fo Ye notices that the tattoo on his book has a similar symbol to the object Er Ye gave him before he fainted.

Cousin is then send to Er Ye’s house where the say man didn’t wake yet. He wakes brutally thinking he is holding Ya Tou’s hand, but it is actually the cousin’s. Are we getting a new couple?! Anyhow, he comes back to his sense and both the cousin and Ba Ye makes sure Er Ye is fine now.

Meanwhile, the villains are starting to move. They first start a rumor accross the city that Fo Ye and Er Ye found a precious treasure that they don’t want to share with others. Afterward, Ms. Huo (also called Miss no.3 if you want) comes to Fo Ye’s house. She says that the tomb is officially under her house’s property and asks him to give her all information he has about it. At that moment, Fo Ye feels a strong desire to kill and brings out a gun in her direction. Afraid, Ms. Huo leaves while murmuring she will not forget this.

Fo Ye later tells Ba Ye that he feels like he is being haunted. Ba Ye gives Fo Ye a spirit chasing mirror. In it, Fo Ye sees his father. Flashback to the death of his father, during a gun fight.

Later, Captain Lu also goes to visit Fo Ye to get him to aknowledge that he did go to the mine. Mad that Fo Ye denies, Captain Lu decides to send people to arrest Er Ye. Chen Pi is mad at this and says that if anything bad happens to Er Ye, Captain Lu would regret it. Er Ye asks why Chen Pi allies himself to the enemy. to this Chen Pi asks Er Ye why he let Ya Tou die. To this, Er Ye stays speechless.

Fo Ye tries to free Er Ye, but is unsuccessful. Ms. Huo goes to prison to convince Er Ye to betray Fo Ye. She also confesses her feelings to Er Ye, but is coldly rejected as his heart only has place for Ya Tou. To herself, she wonders if, because she always lie, the time she is actually truthful to her feelings ends up being misinterpreted.

Captain Lu starts beating up Er Ye in the prison in hope that he can reveal precious information about the tomb and betray Fo Ye. He also fakes papers saying that he and Fo Ye are cooperating with Japanese people (because they sold their precious goods at a shop where Japanese people often go buy). Captain Lu also fakes a paper on which Er Ye “confesses” for the betrayal. Hearing all this, Fo Ye decides to give up and let Captain Lu win. He signs a paper saying that he did indeed go explore the tomb and it was all his fault. Now, the badies have the right of Er Ye and Fo Ye’s belongings and positions in the Mystic Nine family.

Now, the bad guys are having internal disputes. Thinking they do not need the Japanese/Caucasian guy’s help, they tries to isolate him. First, they trick his subordinate (the Japanese girl) to go see Er Ye and then says that they are trying to betray the bad-guys-alliance. This puts the Caucasian guy in an inferior position as he needs to apologize for the girl’s bad behavior. Furthermore, the Caucasian dude is not included in future bad guys meetings. He however does not lose his focus and believe they will call him back soon enough.

The remaining three badies are in a little fight about how to share the gained new treasures. It is finally settled that Chen Pi gets Er Ye’s part and Ms.Huo gets Fo Ye’s. Furthermore, Captain Lu shows even more ambition as he wants to have the whole Mystic Nine under his controle. This surprises his allies who think he is thinking way too ahead of himself…

Captain Lu goes to see Ba Ye to hear his fortune. Ba Ye tells him to be careful about his ambitions which makes Captain Lu mad.

As Er Ye is trapped in prison, Fo Ye starts to worry for his good friend. Added to his current bad condition, Fo Ye is sick in bed. Xinyue takes care of Fo Ye. When he finally wakes up, he can’t even drink soup properly, but asks for the well-being of Er Ye (still in prison). Xinyue tells him that she doesn’t care about anyone else but him. They hold hands as Fo Ye tells her he is sorry to have brought her into this and made her worried. Xinyue wants them to leave Changsha and go to her hometown. Fo Ye disagrees as in his current condition, he cannot protect her on the way to her hometown and he also cannot abandon his brothers.

Chen Pi, thinking about how he still did not avenge Ya Tou and under Captain Lu’s instruction, invades Fo Ye’s house to kill him. Xinyue stops him saying he will need permission to do so. Furthermore, she will not let him hurt her husband. Chen Pi ignores Xinyue’s words and start searching the house.

However, it sounds like Xinyue has a plan to hide Fo Ye and makes him leave Changsha in secret..

Thoughts

Episode 21 to 24 were quite boring. Really nothing much to say. That is why I decided to write two weeks’ recap in one. I love good and long post 8D

The episode 25 to 28 are a lot more interesting. However, we get so much focus on the bad guys it is a bit annoying. We have four badies and most of them are very one dimensional. Ms. Huo especially annoys me with her expressions (sorry, I don’t like her face: she obviously had extensive plastic surgery that makes her look unnatural). I also can’t stand the Chinese voice of that Japanese/Caucasian dude. SO ANNOYING. Else, Chen Pi is the most interesting character out of them and, because he still cares about his master, I am curious in which direction his character will go into.

On the good guys side, Zhao Liying truly brighten up the scene it is amazing. ❤ As for Lay, his lack of acting skills is even more obvious when he is trying to act like he is sick/hurt, because he varies his expression very little. Finally, William Chan is way more handsome when he smiles so hopefully, he will get well soon.
