This week’s four episodes were focused on our Ba Ye and Lieutenant. As both Fo Ye and Er Ye are sick and Xinyue has to go back home, we don’t get much of the usual OTP scenes. Since I was a bit more busy today (school registration problems.. anyhow), here is a quick recap over the episodes so you can at least understand what was said. 😉

Episode 29
Xinyue decides to leave with Fo Ye to hide from the murderous trio (Captain Lu/Chen Pi/Ms.Huo) and to find a cure for Fo Ye’s sickness. The right hand man of Fo Ye (we call him Lieutenant in this recap) and Ba Ye are left behind to protect Er Ye and hide the disappearance of Fo Ye.
When Captain Lu hears that Fo Ye successfully escaped Changsha, he is furious! He decides on an unprepared trip to the mine and forces Er Ye to join them. In the mine, Ms.Huo forestall their attention and help Er Ye to escape Captain Lu’s controle. Er Ye thanks her, but says he still cannot accept her feelings.
Er Ye goes to Ba Ye’s house and Ba Ye brag that his house is so safe the bad guys will not think of coming here… Yeah, the bad guys are so stupid they can’t even predict that their prisoner went to hide at his only ally in the city. ._. Also, this awesome plan of using Ms.Huo was planned out by Fo Ye before he left. Anyhow, since Er Ye is still very sick, it is decided that Ba Ye and Lieutenant will start on a trip to find Fo Ye first and Er Ye, after getting better, will join them. Ms. Huo offers to take care of Er Ye in the meantime.
Our duo disguise as beggars to get information about Fo Ye. Lieutenant is especially suspicious of others. They meet a fat guy at a hide out and becomes friend with him. They talk about the whereabout of Fo Ye and discovers all kind of divergent gossips. Ba Ye suspects that these news are all false and are created by Xinyue to misguide the bad guys. The fat guy recommend them to go work for a person who is known for knowing a lot of information in town and is powerful. Lieutenant impresses with his archery skills and they get hired. Turns out the first task is to accompany the kid of the Da Tu Si where his life will be offering.

In the meantime, Fo Ye is still unconscious and is taken care of by cousin/doctor.
Episode 30
Turns out that in the little group there are a lot assassins that came to kill Da Tu Si (a lady priest kind of character). Basically, the Black Tribute wants the White Tribute led by Da Tu Si to be dead. After fighting, they decide to stick with the group because Da Tu Si may have information about Fo Ye.
In the meantime, at Changsha, Er Ye decides to leave to find Fo Ye too and Ms.Huo decides that she must come with him. Chen Pi gets suscpicious and think that Ms.Huo is the one who helped Er Ye to escape, but Captain Lu tells him to stay calm.
After many events, thanks to Ba Ye, our little group survives the attack of the Black tribute. Especially, at night, when the Black people attacked again, Ba Ye used tricks to scare them away.
Episode 31
While in the prairie, Da Tu Si is once again attacked by assassins. Seeing this, Er Ye immediately stops them (and also her as she has tries to kill herself thinking he is a Han person). Er Ye saves her in his dramatic fashion and then pukes blood out. Turns out he is still very sick, but chose to come ahead to make sure Ba Ye and Lieutenant are fine.
Ms.Huo arrives and immediately caters to Er Ye’s demands. Meanwhile, Da Tu Si seeing her mistakes and understanding that Er Ye is a nice guy falls deeply in love with him *cue to cute music*. Later, Er Ye tells Ms.Huo to leave since he does not want to make her fall in love with him and he still loves Ya Tou. Ms.Huo leaves after a debate with Lieutenant over the way she treats Fo Ye.
After Da Tu Si thanks them for their help and tells our duo where Fo Ye is, Ba Ye and Lieutenant leaves. Er Ye stays by Da Tu Si’s side so she can cure him. She gives him her precious medicine which makes him feel a lot better.
Episode 32
Ba Ye and Lieutenant arrives to the little town where Fo Ye is hiding. The cousin/doctor announces the bad news.
After a few weeks of unconsciousness, Fo Ye woke up to have lost his memory and is acting weirdly. He passes his days drawing and act like mad, being violent from time to time. He seems to only be able to recognize Xinyue’s face. Xinyue went back to her home in hope to find a cure for Fo Ye.
They conclude that the sickness must had started at the cave and hence must be the same as Er Ye’s. Knowing that Da Tu Si’s medicine worked wonderfully on Er Ye, the little group decided to go back to find her. The cousin/doctor is especially anxious to learn that Er Ye is still in a poor state (cat fight soon?).
Back there, they are happy to see that Er Ye is getting better and also offer the medicine to Fo Ye. However, to get the more powerful medicine, they need to fight the Black Tribute again. They do so and succeed to fight them off this time.
In the meantime, Ms.Huo is back to Changsha. Chen Pi is suspicious of her as she tells them she left to find a Tomb specialist. Captain Lu tries to stay optimist and ass-kiss both of his allies…
Preview
In the preview, we see our little group of Fo Ye, Xinyue, Ba Ye and Lieutenant traveling together as they go find a cure to Fo Ye’s sickness. They go back to Fo Ye’s house, the Zhang household at his hometown. There, they realize that to save Fo Ye, they must sacrifice someone else.. Xinyue decides to get into the dangerous device without a moment of hesitation, to save Fo Ye…
Opinion
Haha, not much OTP scenes this week, but it is not exactly boring. Seeing the girls chaining one after the other to fall in love with Er Ye is kind of funny. It made me realize just how much Er Ye’s role is like Tang Xuanzang (the monk/master in Journey to the West). Good looking and naive, but attracts everyone else’s attention (especially demon girls who fall madly in love with him). In this case, I will say that Fo Ye is Sun Wukong, Ba Ye is Zhu Bajie and Lieutenant is Sha Wujing. This metaphor is especially on topic because these episodes, it is basically arriving to a new land and helping the local people.
It is great to see the blooming bromance between Ba Ye and Lieutenant as their personalities really (unexpectedly) match. They are a wonderful pair and I love how respectful Lieutenant is of Ba Ye, even when he says nonsense. Lieutenant especially wins point for being so darn cute! ❤ Also, I am just happy we are getting away from the bad guys in these episodes. FINALLY!
On a side note, I noticed that the Lieutenant’s family name is also Zhang, just like Fo Ye. I wonder if everyone in the household adopt the surname of the boss around, or are they related by blood… hum.

My first thought when I realized both heroes were sick:BY THIS YOUR TIME TO SHINE but then he disappointed meit😂😂but I did enjoy the bromance time. Also, didn’t realize how much EY meant to Ms. Huo until this week but he was not having it😂😂 and omg new love interest for EY? Maybe? Anyways, I think episode 32 was the best episode this week(which is sad) and last week too and I found it cute that FY only has eyes for XY. When I saw the preview I was shocked she got into the box hopefully, next week will be better. Hate that its lagging but love the random bromance😘 sidenote: I really liked the big guys earrings

Haha, go BA YE!! But then, he becomes his goofy self again. But he did shine pretty hard in these episodes and I got to say, he looks pretty cute and handsome without those glasses. So lesson, don’t buy grandpa glasses everyone!
Ms.Huo seems like she can give up everything for Er Ye (or she is dumb to think that her going with him really will cause no harm to her relationship with her allieS). Either way, I am happy to see Er Ye refusing her because it would be so out of character if he did. Too bad, but I think she will get matched with Captain Lu soon. episode 32 is the best because we get to see a bit of Fo Ye ❤ Yeah, sucks that in the four episodes period, it always start slow and move fast at the end. Oh well, as long as we get some good scenes I guess..
Yeah, I am sure nothing bad will happen to Xinyue, but that determination.. You go girl!

I don’t think Huo San Niang has anyone good vibes towards Officer Lu – perhaps him towards her but for her, she just uses him to get power. He is married with kids too that lech!

In the character description, it said Er Ye all along so I knew she liked him a lot. However, Captain Lu feels a lot more compatible with her. Although, as Lizzie mentionned, if he is married, then he is a pig for trying to seduce her… xD

1. Actually thought it was nice that both Lt Zhang and Ba Ye had some time. FY and EY are humans after all and do get sick and they need their people yo yo help them. It’s nice that they show another side to FY (not just as invincible) and that his friends care so much for him.
2. How cool was the XY/CP stand off? Love XY – cool, collected, courageous and cute!
3. Totally agree that although FY has never professed his love for XY, she is the only person he recognizes which shows how important she is to him emotionally when he is clearly trapped within his dreams/nightmares/haunting
4. lay may not be a great actor but he does carry off that regal, melancholic look well – he is a handsome young man indeed! Am sure he can improve!!
5. Why no love for Lt Zhang? He climbed that freaking huge tree in record time , buried your kid and saved your life! He just doesn’t wear those long flowy robes like EY!
6. I think Lt Zhang is family with FY – it was mentioned in the preview but FY doesn’t know. Anyone finds it creepy that his family has no women – they were all men before they were all killed in the flashbacks. Probably explains why he was so determined to not involve XY .
7. Love that he saved her twice and she also saves him – you go girl!!!
8. Can we take a moment how well matched FY/XY dressing is in the preview?
Separately I just started watching Up Idol S1. ZLY is really very frank and funny – seems like she makes few but good friends. Kenny Kwan in particular – they seem to be very close but nobody has ever shipped them? no romantic feel?

Yeah! More fangirling!!
1. Yop, seeing both Fo Ye and Er Ye getting sick felt unusual, but we needed these two sweeties to shine. They are acting great as temporary leads and the bromance was even stronger than between Fo Ye and Er Ye! The acting is good and lieutenent’s ever changing face is hella cute! They still care so much about Fo Ye as their goal is always to get information about him.
2. Xinyue will not lose to anyone!
3. Exactly! Xinyue became his number one priority in the time of a few episodes!! I just love that thought… 😀
4. Lay doesn’t ace all his scene, but that Da Tu Si saving one is really neat. Loved it. Although, I cannot ship him with anyone but Ya Tou!
5. Haha, I know right! Lieutenant is the real hero here (and so handsome). I will take him if nobody wants! 😦 This cutie better have a good ending.
6. Yeah, it does feel creepy and the fact that they are from the same family means that lieutenant may tell us some more information later. Hopefully! The no women thing worries me, but maybe that can be a fact to save Xinyue in the upcoming episode…

I watched the whole Season 1 of Up Idol and she gets better! She makes good friends of Xie Na, He Jiong, Ouyang Nana and that other girl I forgot the name right now, lol. Anyhow, she opens up a lot more and it is a real treat to watch her in that. She is a really good friend with Kenny Kwan and they filmed two dramas together (Mermaid Legend and Wife’s Lies). I think Kenny was never strongly shipped with her, but they have a really strong friendship in exchange. ❤

Yes, she is a lot more open now and she can be a lot more comfortable when she goes on Happy Camp. Still mad at the evil editing there, but I know that HeJiong and XieNa will take good care of her :3

I actually found these last couple episodes (6 or so) really draggy. They could have told the same story in like 2 episodes, but instead they included all these unnecessary filler. I think I preferred the cave scenes. But it will probably get more interesting next week (I hope). It is cute how FoYe can only recognize XinYue <333
Ms. Huo really gets on my nerves. I personally don't like any of the baddies. I love a good bad character if they are written well, but these baddies are really lacking. I can see why everyone falls for ErYe, he has this I need emotional rescuing look while still looking like a badass.

Ah – I see the EY attraction now. Not my cup of tea (team FY !! ) but I can understand it. Those long robes help too. FY also looks super good in them (although he is sick)in preview for next week episodes.

Is ZLY going to that Bazaar event or still stuck in Mongolia? Hope she goes to his concert! I wonder if they will release any BTS of her and LGX / Shawn for Princess Agent. I also saw some of her performances/interactions with CX (it pops up on YT) and i do feel sorry for her; seems like they really did date (and even lived together if you can believe that actress) and CX moved on pretty fast – wonder if Nicky Wu was referring to that when in one of the interviews with iQiyi for LOZ (the one where the interviewer annoyed ZLY and both him and WC helped her) and he was asked to give some advice to her as a father , he said she should take better care of herself, don’t work so hard, find someone nice who will be good to her and be smarter.

She is going to Bazaar, they posted her name on the list. I really wish she would go to his concert but I doubt it. It would get too much attention. If they are dating for real, it would make everyone more suspicious. And if they are not, the unwanted attention would annoy them.

Yeah, I am sure she dated CX. She guest starred in a lot of his dramas. For her to go out of her way to do that says a lot. They must have had a very nasty breakup so I do feel for her. I hope she finds someone nice. At least she seems happy right now with her dog and friends.

Saw an old HC episode where Kenny Kwan was on with CX and KK (one of the few) busted CX as not talking to ZLY on the phone coz he and ZLY were messaging each other and CX didn’t know. What seemed obvious is that KK is not a fan of CX and considering how good friends they are (ZLY even went to HK on one of her rare off days to star in his MV!) he must have not been supportive of that relationship. KK is very cute (with his awful Mandarin!) – I do suspect that he bats for the other side though (rumored but never proven) and is ZLY BGF!
I agree that ZLY going to WC concert would be a difficult situation. Sigh – just appear together somewhere so that we can analyze where they stand with each other!! fangirling !!!

Yeah, saw that! It was the episode advertised as Chen Xiao calling ZLY, which got me all excited.. for nothing. Love that Kenny Kwan supported her and doubted him. It is funny because they are all “beloved” boys of Yumama (although Chen Xiao is his golden boy), but it is obvious CX and KK doesn’t mix thaaat well. KK is cute and he never fails to show his support and friendship to Liying. ZLY even went to film one of his MV, if you never checked it before 😉

Ohh I didn’t know that but it does seem like most people didn’t like CX for ZLY, which kind of gets you thinking. Thankfully that is done and over.
I am hoping WC and ZLY attend an event together in the near future, if not we will just have to wait until award shows. Then we can overanalyze their actions 😉

I won’t lie, the episodes are far from the exciting moments of episode 12 to 20… Not having OTP moments and especially Zhao Liying makes the show progress a lot slower. I am however happy that here, we get the chance to see some of our second leads good guy evolve into even more likeable people. For sure, if it was not that for the proposing/wedding scene coming up later, I would not be as optimist as I am right now about the show… LOL
I find cave scenes too dark for my liking, but I agree that the action scenes in them are a lot cooler!

Totally, I do understand that they fall for Er Ye because he does give the I am dependable, but also need your affection vibe. But team FoYe for life!!

Hi Dwi, basically Lt Zhang tells her that it is a test for the Zhsng family after BY says that it is very dangerous . She asks if the test is to exchange one life for another and BY remarks that surely it can’t be this way. Lt Zhang just looks downs and XY looks at FY and then goes into the standing coffin. BY asks her what does she think she is doing and the Lt asks her to come out. BY says it’s super dangerous (not too sure about the exact words) and nobody can be sure what will be the outcome. She ask them to take care of her husband and she asks them to remove their hands from the door and closes it. 😦

That’s why I say FY always has had her in his heart. He wanted her to return to Beijing because it was too dangerous in Changsha and was afraid it would implicate her (which it has now!) 🙂

I’m a little late to the discussion but yes, too little XY!!! My heart broke seeing Fo Ye so lost and disoriented, especially when he’s normally so calm and collected. Love how he only recognizes her, and how she’s willing to sacrifice herself for him.. that goes beyond whatever infatuation she had over his handsome looks.
@Lizze: bringing over what you asked in the previous gates post, if I’m not wrong, WT confirmed in his interview for Chanel that he was the one who invited/recommended LY for the role. There was an article about it too (not from Chanel) so I’m pretty certain he had something to do with her casting. His company, A-Nac is the production company for gates so it sounds very likely.
Also, rumors say that they’re planning for a second season with the the same cast, but nothing has been confirmed as to who’s actually returning or if they’re even gonna go through with it. Crossing fingers!!

It’s hilarious that WC is observant of what ZLY is doing but then comes over to point and laugh (at least the clip doesn’t show him helping) 🙂 I read an old post in another blog where some commentators say that they ship WH and ZLY (as opposed to WC and ZLY) after the HC appearances because WH seems to take care of ZLY while WC is like a naughty boy! i beg to differ – I think that shows that they are comfortable with each other and he makes her laugh / more comfortable with the camera. I don’t think they were dating then in any case as he was fresh off the relationship with Charlene but as I said previously, Friends With Potential!

Yes, I do think ZLY and WC are more comfortable together than ZLY was ever with WH. They always looked a bit awkward to me or maybe just WH looked a bit awkward when they were together. I think even if WC and ZLY are not dating they are friends. But WC does look a bit naughty, the really mischievous type.

Thanks to YT and some super dedicated fans, I watched a fan cam version of the HC episode where ZLY and WC did the dance together and appeared with various other people including Jimmy Lin and GYY. Actually, WC looked quite distracted aside from the moments he was interacting with ZLY (and forever immortalized in FMV!) and even a little awkward. They spoke but it wasn’t constant. Quite different from their next appearance at HC where it was just the three of them from LOZ. He was a lot more at ease there and more playful. Then I looked at the dates and the awkward HC was earlier – prob around the time ore break up with Ah Sa or around then. Which explains his manner and rightly so – one coming out of a 5 year relationship shouldn’t be joyful. That cut where ZLY pulled his hand away and then he put his hand around her shoulder (again immortalized in many FMVs) – in this full fan cam, you can see he took his hand away once he noticed they were next to He Jiong – pretty self conscious WC : probably to avoid tumors although it was obvious that even if they weren’t physical, they were obviously friends and comfortable with each other. ZLY bless her, was unaware, and just pointing and laughing!

Those awesome fancams ^^ I just watch the FMV bc there are so many. I thought the second HC appearance was filmed on that same day but they just aired cut versions from the previous appearance (?). I think they were really close during LofZ press conferences, the one where she is wearing a black dress. There is this clip of him putting his arm behind her while she talks, really sweet. I also saw a fancam of LofZ filming while they were shooting and he randomly started touching ZLY’s hair while they were waiting to shoot a scene. I have seen comparisons with other co-stars where he usually uses “gentleman hands” in a fist when touching them behind scenes, etc. But I do think they were not dating during LofZ just friends with potential like you said 😉

@Lizzie: I don’t know if there’s a video for that interview, all I read was a summary of the interview itself. There could be a transcript/article about it somewhere, but I haven’t had the chance to scoop around for it. @Lizzie: Both LoZ HC appearances were filmed during the same day, just aired at different times. The one with them alone (with the blue sweatpants) were actually filmed before the other guests arrived. The reason why you sensed a difference in WC behavior was probably because the one with them in blue sweatpants (where you said he seemed more relaxed and playful) was filmed with no audience, it was just them and the filming crew and staff (while the other one wasn’t). All the audience cuts in the actual aired version were added afterwards.. heard this was normal practice of HC, lol.
I believe WC and Ah Sa broke up during the filming of LoZ, which was more or less half a year before his appearance on HC with the LoZ team. He seemed fine during the press conference after the filming and on many other public appearances so I doubt it was because of that. He said in an interview that he was having a tough time during the LoZ filming due to reasons like homesickness *coughtthebreakupcough*, allergies and the pressure of being the lead (first-timer). People had already speculated their breakup around new years before LoZ even started the filming.. but yeah, not sure when they actually broke up, but I do think it was way before they actually announced it (all my thoughts though, definitely NOT facts, lol)
Speaking of the HC fancams, if you look closely, the part where she took his hand to drag him away from the mattress, she actually let go (notice how her hand opened up from the grip) while you can see his hand tighten around hers to hold on, lol. And it seems to me that both were conscious of the closeness they were showing, she bent over and “laughed” while touching his back with her hand, while he took the oh so obvious route and took one LARGE step away from her, loool. That totally explains the difference between WC’s demeanor – I think he doesn’t like to be asked to ask questions. I read somewhere that the comment about their kissing scene was scripted which explains why he was uncomfortable and quickly said it wasn’t him who invited ZLY to the trailer but his mom.
What I find sweet is that despite everything, it’s quite apparent that they are close. He didn’t really want to join in the dance but then ZLY motioned him to then later he just went and do it anyways! Same for their reaction after the hand-pull (totally agree with your analysis btw), it’s like subconsciously he gravitates towards her and then consciously stops himself to avoid rumors.
Are the press conferences for LOZ in 2016? Totally agree with you that for the press conferences, he was totally comfortable. ZLY, was, well ZLY 🙂 but more open compared to other press conferences.

@Lizzie: Yeah, I agree! I especially see the most change in LY when she’s around him.. she just turns so outspoken and playful, especially in events where she’s usually more serious and quiet. He doesn’t act like that around other girls either, especially during filming. You can clearly tell he’s always looking to make her laugh, doing something silly and waiting for her reaction. She said in an interview when asked to describe WC in one word that he was silly and that being silly was his ‘thing’, but then later she added that, “Well, but he won’t show you (the public) that side of him.” .. Hahah, reading that, my fangirling mode went beeping thinking, “did she mean he only shows that side to of him to her and that only she gets to see it?” lool.
Funny thing is, in an interview with WC (at a later date), he was asked the same thing (or something similiar to that) and he himself said the same–that he was silly. Don’t think I’ve heard him describe himself as such, at least not for the last year or so it’s just funny how they both coincidentally (?) said the same thing (or he read/saw her interview *cough*) 😀 😀

Definitely in terms of LY – her interviews for Chusen seem like her usual self. Reserved and definitely more awkward. It also seems that she is not that close with the rest of the cast – prob coz YZ and QQJ are acting in another show together so they interact more and also her time on the show is not a lot.
I think it’s always good to find a man who makes you laugh. Even though from the BTS, you can see she is sometimes rolling her eyes at WC but he perseveres!
Can see that ZLY takes cues from WC in their public appearances – them pretending not to know each other at the Mystic Nine prayer opening ceremony was probably his idea too!

What happened was that someone forgot or didn’t know that WC and LY already knew each other from previous collaborations, so that person went ahead and introduced LY to WC.. and being the dorks that they are, played along and shook hands and introduced themselves to one another all over again, lol. There were a lot of laugher involved XD
Don’t know if you’ve seen the fancam (from the same opening ceremony) where the actor who plays Ba Ye asked WC about Fo Ye’s body tattoo. I guess LY who was standing right next to WC chimed in and said something, so WC turns to her and goes, “You’ll get a nosebleed [once you see the tattoo/body]”.. The very first scenes they filmed were the bedroom ones with half naked Fo Ye and XY cleaning his wound 🙂

It is never too late! 8D Yeah, that is a point I forgot to mention. It is so sad to see Fo Ye in such a state, but at the same time I am happy they did. We have seen his cool side the whole time so it is good to see his more vulnerable image too. After he realizes that he is not invincible, he will hopefully understand even more the need of Xinyue and people close to him. Stop gambling your life! And that scene was really nice done, showing that WC can do more than just the cool boy image.
The relationship of Xinyue and Fo Ye is going in the right direction and I just want the wedding night!!! >< Hope it is not like in the last episodes…
Yeah, there does seem to be such a rumor. Lay already filmed his special episode so will see if they have enough content for another season with the same cast. I mean, Lost Tomb said the same thing and they didn't film anything since last year…

He talks about how LY helps him a lot during filming when he has issues with his character, how Fo Ye really really likes XY and how her character helps Fo Ye showcase a more ‘humane’ side of him in terms of allowing him to show different emotions, how Fo Ye only smiles when XY is around (which I beg to differ, he smiles plenty with Ba Ye, lol– but he probably meant genuinely?) .. How professional LY is, which I swear, the guy says this so many times it’s like an automatic response, lol. He also says gates is pretty much the first project of his that he watches/monitors when it airs because he typically dislikes watching himself on screen.
He really loves playing Fo Ye and we all know how much he adores the Qu Ru Mei sign. Just the other day he said when he saw that sign for the very first time at the airport, he wanted to run after the fan and say “I’m Peng San Bien!”‘ hahah.. such a dork that guy,

Not sure if it was all media play at the time so take it with a grain of salt, but at the time Liying and Chen Xiao were promoting for Legend of Lu Zheng/Palace and other projects, they were paired by the public for a very long time. during that time, Chen Xiao confessed his love on shows for Liying, but says that they are not dating. Whatever happens, their relationship is too special to be spoiled. Anyhow, because Liying just said to let him be, people bashed her a lot at the time for letting a guy hang under the public eye like that. Of course, now we all know it was media play and Liying is doing more than fine. So, my guess is that these words are probably just for attention OR they really dated.

I think it was near the day of the wedding! I think she said the truth because I always assumed that they did date. But the dating between them never got confirmed, so strictly speaking, it is Chen Xiao’s “one-side love” toward Liying (especially during the Palace movie promotion behind). But either way, he is married now and Liying possibly has a boyfriend. I am sad as an old shipper, but I guess I have to let them live their lives v_v

Reminds me of when LY changed her weibo profile picture to XY and WC, only a couple of hours later, decided to change his as well to Fo Ye.. haha fans were going crazyyy, especially since WC hadn’t changed his profile pic in years. Fans were teasing the both of them and people were like, hmm what’s going on with the these two.. so in the middle of the night (was it 4am?), poor guy went on weibo to change his profile picture to the one he has now (from a photo shoot for his concert), and he even did it twice to really make sure the Fo Ye pic was gone, lol. It was quite amusing really, hahah..

Hahah yeah, they really try to keep their close relationship in the down low hence the minimal weibo interaction they have, but yes, sometimes they slip and it’s funny when they do :D. They usually do things quite similiar to one another on weibo so fans always have a blast speculating and figuring out the connection. Also read that WC and LY were the only ones among all the HC guests (in the latest one with Jess) who did not post a promo weibo post for that episode (while all the others did). I haven’t confirmed it myself with my own snooping but my source is usually very very credible 😀

I am soooo angry at today’s episodes that I can’t even wait for Archi’s recaps.. I need to rant!!! What were the editors thinking?! Cutting XY/OTP scenes thinking that nobody’s gonna notice?! She barely appears in drama as is already, why would you cut their scenes short when you know the majority’s tuning in to watch OTP specifically???? The whole saving Fo Ye scenes and XY’s sacrifice scenes are so jumpy and un-climactic thanks to the freaking editors, I don’t even understand why he suddenly woke up–where’s XY’s ‘nightmare’ scene? Where’s the blood transfusion?? Where’s OTP’S KISS?! Because of the cuts, the attempted kiss between OTP felt so out of place.. so now, he’s just gonna suddenly try to kiss her in front of his brothers and she’s just naturally ready for it? They made it seem like that was their first kiss, but their reactions/actions says otherwise.. because guess what? That wasn’t their first kiss! Their first kiss was supposed to happen after they got out of his family’s creepy place but for reasons unknown to practically everyone who’s watching, they decided to cut that out! Urghh I’m so maaaad 😦 😦 😦
If the production team is smart enough, they should move quickly and do as much damage control as possible (the public is outraged and some are even boycotting the drama).. release the cut scenes PRONTO, or air it with the tv version for all I care, just don’t let OTP’s precious scenes go to waste.

I was wondering why FY suddenly woke up too! In one of the previews, there was a scene of XY looking around at the tombs (presumably after she went into the coffin) but I didn’t see it here. I thought it was gonna be shown in a flashback because sometimes they show what actually happen in a later part. I was hoping that this would not be the reason that cut XY’s life short because it was some curse on all the women who marry into the Zhang family!
Actually, I thought the kiss was quite cute 🙂 maybe because my mandarin is basic – I thought he wanted to kiss her because he openly acknowledged that she is Zhang family since they crossed into his ancestral home without any issues. I was gonna say that it looked so natural !!

That’s why it looked so out of place for me–because that attempted kiss looked so natural as if they’ve been kissing each other for years! Now I’m not talking about the WC and LY’s acting, but Fo Ye’s and XY’s relationship. The naturalness of that scene doesn’t really fit well for a scene that they’re trying to pass off as a ‘first’ kiss. XY might’ve been upfront and brazen about her feelings towards Fo Ye, but when you look at the scene where she accidentally saw him half naked, she was still shy about it. So if it’s supposed to be a first kiss between them, shouldn’t she act in a similar fashion? That’s why I’m mad because if they hadn’t cut the actual first kiss, it would’ve made more sense to have Fo Ye attempting to kiss XY again–PDA be damned (because then they could’ve just passed it off as him coming back for seconds and not being able to resist her, lol).
It’s actually supposed to go like this (from what I gathered): she goes into the coffin and experiences her worst nightmare which is Fo Ye dying.. somehow, that creepy place ‘releases’ her because it recognizes her as a Zhang (aka Fo Ye’s wife).. she gets out, and then comes the blood transfusion scene between the present Fo Ye and the younger Fo Ye (that scene was shown in the trailers). He wakes up and they high tail their butts out of there, with Fo Ye holding XY’s hand and dragging her out with him (also shown in episode teaser). Outside once they’ve settled, there’s supposed to be a conversation between FY and XY (also cut!) which somehow ended with XY giving FY a peck on the lips and then running away. Fo Ye runs after and gives her a REAL kiss and acknowledges that she’s now a Zhang as well, and THEN comes the scene where everyone’s gathered around to talk.
Now I could be wrong with some of the minor details, but I’m pretty sure the actual first kiss scene was filmed based on Fo Ye’s and XY’s reaction on the attempted kiss. There’s a summary/script going around weibo about the scenes that were missing in the episode.

In terms of the attempted kiss, WHY did they cut all that out??? No wonder fans who are expecting it are furious! I didn’t know so wasn’t so upset – I thought that FY just wanted to kiss XY because well, he has always had the hots for her and clearly even his ancestral home recognizes her as Zhang family (which means he always has in his heart although not verbally!) And XY was just taken by surprise although they didn’t kiss ultimately. Okay, now we need those scenes!!!

@Lizzie: that blood transfusion (well, I call it blood transfusion but I’m not really sure if it actually involved an actual blood transfusion.. it could be more like, a mind connection of some sort) scene was shown in the earlier promo trailers before Gates was even released. It was a scene where you can see young Fo Ye in white and side bangs laying next to present Fo Ye with their hands crossing each others. Fo Ye was lost in his past and that was supposed to bring him back to reality.

They weren’t really running per se, more like just holding her hand and taking her with him. It looks like they could already be outside of his family house at that time, but I can’t be too sure since it was so short It was in the episode teaser for the episodes that aired today. Don’t know where I can find it now since most website have already replaced the teasers with the actual episode

I have re analysed that gif and I think this is not a cut scene. Probably after FY comes back from the cave with Bei Le Ye because the first time he came back, he was all bloodied and miserable and their relationship was not so intimate for her to be smacking his chest. As you said EZC she was still a bit shy when he too his shirt off to clean the wound so her reaction after his first time back from the cave was appropriate. Gently scolding but not to the extent of major sa jiao.

Just read your comment and rewatched the scene again – you mean their first kiss was after they left the creepy ancestral home (not right after he woke up) but before he was back to his normal self sitting around with everyone? Hmm. Then we totally need that scene (together with the explanation why he was lying down) is there a screenshot floating around sonewhere which is why people are so upset?

Yeah, it’s been trending because people on weibo are posting posts full of complains and curses, lol. They feel cheated that the main characters are getting less airtime than the supporting characters–aka the villains.

That scene is such a huge milestone for them.. now I'm really hopeful that we'll eventually get to see it one way or another because I refuse to believe that the production team would be silly enough to permanently cut such a precious, money-making scene.

I thought that someone mentioned Mystic Nine’s production company is WC’s? I would be surprised if he let them cut this scene because aside from the kiss , it sounds like this is FY clear acceptance to be in a relationship with XY and setting aside all his worries (although with his complicated background, I totally understand the concerns)!
Must be in the flashbacks – let’s all hope!!!

Omgg, I just saw that scene in a teaser for next week’s episode!!! No idea why they changed the freaking order since it makes absolutely no sense (because today’s episode shows them being home), maybe they’re turning it into a flashback or whatever.. But gaaaaaah! That scene isn’t gone!

Watching ep 35 now – the scene which was giffed was not cut – it’s there but just a different variation. Watch it! So it seems like ZLY and WC tried a few permutations before deciding what they wanted to do 🙂

I think ZLY and Lin Gengxin are good friends they were joking around yesterday on weibo. I also feel like Princess Agents has a really friendly/good working environment, which makes me very happy. Coming from Chusen where everything just felt tense, I am glad she has another good working environment.

I agree that the cut is out of place and even in flashback it would be kind of weird, but at least now we get to see it. I just hope they keep the part where she kisses him first since it sounds really cute.
Maybe all the complaints made them include it again.

Re the cut scenes, perhaps they are not? Judging from the trailer, it is set in a hut where the White Clan people live and they are sitting down (not walking away after exiting the Zhang family ancestral home) so perhaps the script was tweaked ? I have hope!
