[Short Storyline Recap] The Mystic Nine Episode 37-38

Writing two posts this week! The episodes today are too good to not post as soon as possible! I think there were a lot of questions unanswered too. In this recap, I put more screen time for Er Ye and Ya Tou as they had some really sad scenes…

I may be busy tomorrow during the day, but I will try to post the second one in the same time frame as usual! Edit: Yeah, my whole body is super tired. I just finished watching the episodes, but I think I will sleep first and write the post tomorrow, good night! ^^

Episode 37

The episode continues where we left last week as our trio of Fo Ye, Ba Ye and Lieutenant looks for Er Ye in the cave.

Er Ye walks around in red fabric looking for his deceased wife, Ya Tou.

He finds her cleaning the clothes for him.

He goes to her moved and happy, wanting to discuss more with her. Although she is reluctant to leave his clothes there, they go out to find a noodle joint and eat.

As nobody is ready to make a meal, Ya Tou makes it for him. Er Ye eats the noodles while remembering his first encounter with Ya Tou. Ya Tou is the daughter of a noodle shop owner. She made food for him while he was younger and they immediately connected.

They eat noodles together.

The little team don’t find Er Ye, but end up leaving the cave… into Changsha city. Of course, everyone soon realizes that this is not their world. From the moon’s surface area to missing objects in the house, everything seems to be in reverse!

Especially, Fo Ye goes back to his house and sees.. his father in the living room! He yells at him for destroying all the efforts of the family as going to the tomb reopened the secret and the path to their precious artifact. The other Zhang uncles join in to yell at him as they say everyone in their family got killed so he, Zhang Qishan, can go to Changsha. Fo Ye yells back at them as he says that was he in the wrong to search the true meaning of the tomb. Then he realizes that there is no way his family would yell at him like this and starts asking them who they are. By yelling back, everyone disappears as if it was all an hallucination.

Later, him and Ba Ye meet up as they realize this world is fake. They search for Er Ye again. They see Er Ye and are shocked to see Ya Tou alive. Er Ye says he does not want to leave with them as he is perfectly happy with Ya Tou around him.

 

Er Ye does not want to confess that this Ya Tou is fake. Fo Ye and Ba Ye tells Er Ye to leave with them and he can bring Ya Tou with him. Er Ye reluctantly accepts as they head out.

On their way out, they meet Chen Pi who is ready to kill. But when Chen Pi sees his beloved teacher’s wife, he is taken by surprised and knocked down.

Episode 38

Our little group is finally out of the cave. Er Ye one nights wake up not seen Ya Tou. He guesses that she went back to their old house (now Chen Pi’s house) and goes there to find her. There they meet Chen Pi. Chen Pi first doesn’t want to let them go which makes Er Ye really mad and may had causes a fight. But Ya Tou stops them by saying that Chen Pi is still too young to understand what he sees. Hearing that, Chen Pi kneels down. Er Ye says that he will never let anyone else take Ya Tou away from his sides.

The men regroups/hides at Bei Le Ye’s house. There, they discuss about the next move. The police has released posters to catch them all. Finally, after the discussion, they decide it would be safer to go back to the White Village, aka the clan of Da Tu Si.

On the way there, Ba Ye and Fo Ye discusses the appearance of Ya Tou and thinks she is dangerous for Er Ye. Meanwhile, Xinyue talks happily with Ya Tou in the other car. She is just so happy to see her good friend again. They look at drawings together.

Arrived at the White Village, Da Tu Si meets Ya Tou and immediately senses that she has weird energy within her. She shares her worries with Ba Ye.

Arrived there, Xinyue talks about Fo Ye. She does inquire about Ya Tou’s origin as she finds it weird that she came back with them from the tomb. However, she also says that whatever happens, she is Ya Tou now so nobody should bully her!

Xinyue also says that Er Ye and Ya Tou are the most loving couple she knows and she wishes Fo Ye can treat her that well too. Fo Ye asks her how she wants him to treat her to which, she goes forward to give him a kiss. She smiles and says he asked for it!

Then, she proposes to him casually. To this, Fo Ye starts a long conversation about how his life is too dangerous for her. Xinyue says she doesn’t want to hear anymore and is ready to leave. At that moment, Fo Ye reaches for her wrist and gives her a passionate kiss. She is eyes wild open.

She smiles back at him and says he was forceful/prepared for this! He says that he didn’t intend to refuse her, just that she left too fast. She asks if that means he accepts to which he smiles back. They hug it out.

Later, Da Tu Si comes to see Xinyue as she prepared a few traditional jewelries for her to wear. Here are pictures of the wedding Ceremony (be ready to roll, hehe)!!

Later, Er Ye is in his room looking for Ya Tou and meets Ba Ye and Fo Ye. There they started a heated debate about how Ya Tou is fake and dangerous. She is not even human, just an hallucination from his imagination. The fact that she still exists shows how powerful the object in the tomb is and she is dangerous. Hearing this, Er Ye says that can’t they be understanding for him? Ya Tou is the person most important for him and he wants to have her by his side. If she is only an imagination, can’t they all use their brain to imagine her with him? He already did whatever he can to help Fo Ye in the tomb and now, he just wants to be left alone. To this, Ba Ye yells (twice) that he should wake up because she is a MONSTER!

At that moment, Ya Tou enters with Xinyue to bring tea. However, when Er Ye sees and tries to reach for her, she suddenly disappears in the void. This leaves everyone in shock and Er Ye crying.

Ba Ye keeps saying that she is dangerous. At that point, Er Ye finally breaks and take a gun that he points at Ba Ye. However, at that moment, Fo Ye puts himself between them. Er Ye tells him to go aside and Fo Ye shouts him to shout if he wants. Xinyue looks worried and Ba Ye says to Fo Ye to leave. Er Ye asks them why they are doing this as he only wants to be with Ya Tou. He leaves heartbroken.

Thoughts

Wow. I feel so bad for Er Ye this week. I mean he may be leaving in a dream, but sometime, dreams are better than real life. His friends are being bad friends by trying to wake him up so violently. Ba Ye shouldn’t call Ya Tou a monster. And Fo Ye shouldn’t yell at him. They are a team that worked together through so many obstacles together and whoever is right, there is no point to hurt each other’s feelings. On the bright side, at least, the death of Ya Tou is not the end yet because…

….in the preview, we see Ya Tou again as she is pregnant and Er Ye is obviously older. She calls him Ge aka Brother, which really confuses me @_@ Another thing is that Fo Ye goes back home to find Xinyue wearing black and crying .. for his death. She can’t see him either. These scenes both seem to indicate that they are still in an hallucination, which means they are still not out of the tomb. That would be a good hypothesis in my opinion because, based on the released stills, we will be getting a second wedding soon!

• In an interview for Hot Girl, Ma Ke said he first met Liying (for HuaYi brother event probably), his mother said that Liying is a really nice girl. Aww, Ma mama was a shipper back in the day!
• In another interview, Ouyang Nana mentionned that the two people she talked to the most after Up Idol season one is Zhao Liying and Xie Na. Also, the whole team has a weibo chat group. I want to join too! ~~
