[Storyline Short Recaps] The Mystic Nine Episode 39-40

Sorry for the wait! My wifi was a real pain today so it was hard to write the recap. V_V Episodes 39 and 40 are a bit more boring and mysterious. Not much highlights happened so I will just give the outline of what happened for everyone waiting for eng sub. ❤

Episode 39

Er Ye goes to see Fo Ye to asks for an object (陨铜 I don’t know to translate, but it is so he can go back to the cave and revive Ya Tou). Fo Ye tells him that he left it at the Zhang house and hence doesn’t have it anymore. Er Ye is in panick mode before realizing that there must be another one back in the tomb. Da Tu Si and Fo Ye convinces Er Ye to wait for tomorrow before going back to the cave. However, Er Ye chooses to run back to the tomb during the night.

Fo Ye decides to bring a few men with him toward the tomb. It is through this trip that they realize that the tomb is actually a crater formed by a meteorite.

There, he always see in the way messages on the wall as well as a voice, it says “Wake Up”. That’s when Fo Ye finally realizes that he is still in an hallucination and never left the tomb.

Fo Ye also has an hallucination in which he goes back home to see Xinyue crying. He approaches her and realizes that she is wearing all black. She holds a slab with Fo Ye’s name on it, which means that he is at his imaginary funerals.

In the meantime, Ba Ye talks with Da Tu Si about how Fo Ye still didn’t come back. Then, Da Tu Si suddenly stops talking. That is when he realizes that this is all a dream and that they must still be in the tomb. He finds Lieutenant to talk about the situation.

Back in Changsha city, Captain Lu is mad to hear that Fo Ye and Er Ye disappeared and the exploration of the tomb is pointless. Then, the white guy arrives and explains that he can explore for him as he knows all its secrets. He proofs by showing some of the objects he found in the cave. In exchange for his help, the white guy wants power over the Mystic Nine team.

In the cave, the white guy meets Chen Pi and brings him in the hallucination world.

Episode 40

Outside, Bei Le Ye is outrageous to learn that Captain Lu recruited a foreigner to explore the cave. He shares his anger with Xinyue who tells him to just let it be since they cannot do anything yet. Xinyue is depressed since she didn’t hear anything about Fo Ye for weeks now and hence, doesn’t have the appetite to eat anything.

Ms.Huo also goes to see Captain Lu to show her dissatisfaction and tells him to not under-estimate the Mystic Nine.

Everyone is in the tomb searching for a path out.

Fo Ye is still in the world of hallucination. After much searching, he and Ba Ye/Lieutenant meets. Fo Ye doesn’t remember anything about the past. Ba Ye talks about a map they found back in White Village and believe it is Fo Ye who drew it. Since Fo Ye doesn’t remember, it means that Fo Ye must had came to this place long time ago.

While talking, they see Er Ye. However, they cannot reach Er Ye as he is in his own dream.

In it, Ya Tou is happily doing the house chores while being pregnant. Er Ye grew a mustache and they are happy to age together peacefully.

Later, at a a puzzle place, they meet Chen Pi. Chen Pi tries to pick a fight, but is thrown by Fo Ye into a fog and his own past.

We see in Chen Pi’s past how he became the person he is now. While young, he lived with his grandma. As they are poor, he went to hunt for crabs, but always got bullied by others and had a hard time to catch any things. One day, he hears the local storyteller talking about a man who used to be a bully, but because he was capable of killing others, became respected. Hearing this, Chen Pi does the act aka killed the kid who was bullying him. After realizing this, his grandma made him one last crab meal and after an emotional faraway, rushed him away from the town. It is when he arrived in Changsha that he became Er Ye’s disciple…

A joke because Chen Pi sounds like Orange Skin 😛
