Here comes another Entertainment Update! We are supposed to follow a schedule of Tuesday and Saturday, but it is hard to do so when the c-entertainment world releases so much goodies these days. This one is pretty packed so hope nobody is complaining of overdose :3
Zheng Shuang and Chen Xuedong have been casted in Rush to the Dead Summer by Guo Jingming. After so many months of waiting, we finally have a cast! I am not even surprised to see Chen Xuedong casted in a GJM project, again! Filming will start in July.
A new idol drama called A Fox’s Summer will star Korean actor Kim Taw Hwan and 90s line actress Tan Song Yun:
Really excited for this (not Chinese entertainment) new project! It seems that Korea’s tvN will adapt the popular manhwa The Bride of the Water God. I always really like the drawing style of that manhwa and felt like the costume was similar to Chinese period ones. Hope tvN will do a good job *_*
New trailer for Time Raiders with a special focus on Luhan
Rookie Agent Rouge with Zhao Liying and Lu Yi released a new trailer! Still looking forward for it, but now, I will need a telescope as this one will be released for September… Sigh
Old Nine Gates with Zhao Liying, Lay and William Chan released a new trailer! Here are some gifs
More trailer for Never Gone with Kris Wu and Liu Yifei… at this level, I feel like I have already seen the movie 😛
They also released a few stills
The drama Legend of Heavenly Tears Warriors Phoenix starring Wang Likun and Joe Cheng released kick ass stills
Zhu Xian releases more stills… the release date is near everyone ><
New police drama Police Brother Pot
Promotion pictures of Bea Hayden and Feng Shaofeng for Starry Sea Starry Night, the last book written by Tong Hua
Ni Ni in her new movie The Warriors Gate
Poster of Never Say Goodbye starring Lee Junki and Zhou Dongyu
Hero Dog is ready for season 2!
New drama with Wang Xiaochen and Zhang Jiayi. Creepy love story with a teacher… (joke)
New character stills and stills for Whirlwind Girl season 2 with Ji Changwook, An Xuexi, and Wu Lei. It is set to be released for the end of July!
Getting released on June 30th is Demon Girl starring Li Yitong and Zhang Zhehan. They held a press conference for the occasion. I was scheptical at first (and I still am), but maybe after listening to the new MVs, I should give it a try…
Drama Three Lives with Yang Mi and Mark Zhao wrapped up!
Hunan is currently working on a new drama called 最後的王公 The Last King. It is based on the novel of the same name.
A new drama produced by Huang Xiaoming and the original author of the novel 鬼吹燈之牧野詭事 and will be airing on IQiYi. Already sounds like a hit right? But wait, it will star Darren Wang!
Pictures of Li Yifeng cooking (Handsome guy+food= need to share! :3) He looks so different though!
My favourite fashion moments at the 2017 Summer/Spring Men Fashion Week 🙂
Netizens recently found this old clip of Li Xiaolu dancing to Shake It by Kpop group Sistar. What dou you think?
Finally, if you feel like you didn’t get enough eye candy yet, here is a MV of handsome men in period dramas! ❤ This video made me so happy to stan cdrama world, because everyone looks so handsome and I could nearly name all the dramas *_*
Wait a minute! For those who watched Whirlwind Girl season 1 already….it seems they’re leaving Yang Yang ‘s character completely off the radar for season 2. ><

His character was badly ill in the last episode and not clear what happen to him.

Well…I guess at least this does give a good reason for his character’s disappearance in season 2. T______T

I wish they make one season with happy ending

I remember Yang Yang and Hu Bingqing filmed a scene where they are with kids in their dojo. I wonder if they will release that scene for season 2 and that may explain their disappearance. Honestly, I wonder how they will create new bounds between the new leads, but same old supporting cast…

Chen Xuedong is indeed Guo Jingming’s mistress
It would be better if China adapt The Bride of the Water God, cause tvN aren’t good in adaptations and I assume they will spoil it like it was with couple webtoons they did. Btw after BBJX trailer I don’t want Korea to touch any Chinese material, please it turns in to disaster.
Can’t take my eyes from Zhu Xian stills ❤

Isn’t TvN the group behind the Reply series and Liar Game? I think they are a lot more creative than other broadcasting groups from Korea, but I doubt they have the budget to create something as extravagant and beautiful as The Bride of the Water God. I hope they will be able to cast someone well known, that manhwa is famous for the visuals 😛
I actually think the BBJX-Li trailer isn’t too bad, but I doubt it will live up to the expectations xD
Zhu Xian as so many baes ❤

I can’t say tvN absolutely every drama is best and I sceptic to Korean dramas which are based on foreign original, in my opinion they ruin all spirit and plot, and they can’t make drama spectacular as China does.

Hmm… Korea do have some good dramas like Rooftop Prince and the Reply Series. They are very short (16 episodes in average) and I used to watch them for fun 😛
But yes, overall, Chinese dramas have so much more to offer: great variety (not always makjang or overreacting), very interesting plots coming from books, wuxia genre, etc ^^.

Excited for Old Nine Gates and Zhu Xian. Old Nine Gates is airing very very soon right? I’m so surprised there’s been no promotion for it so far… or for Zhu Xian actually! But I like what I see 🙂
It also seems that they are promoting Zhao Liying as first female lead, I feel bad for Yang Zi cause she filmed four months longer but also kinda confused. I thought ZLY’s character dies halfway into the story (and she only filmed for a month), so how can she be given more screen time? And the photoshop in the poster is really bad for Yang Zi, there’s a dark shadow/line right where her nose and eye meet. Do you see it? And also for her character still, her face is almost blurry… I don’t like it (so unnecessary)! I wish they didn’t do that, I don’t want ZLY to be involved in a fan war cause of this 😦

It’s unfortunate for ZLY. Even prior to production, ABB was in talk to play BY. Either actress is more popular, and is the selling power for the drama.
I’m not too surprised. Often times guest stars get pushed to supporting or get billed first. It’s all about giving them face and recognition.

Agree, Zhao Liying will probably have a lot of screen time

Yeah, same with Hollywood movies. A big-name star may appear for like an entire 5 minutes of the 2 hour movie but somehow be first-billed. Unfair, I know…but that’s the way movies/dramas market themselves.

Hehe, everyone is calling it Old Nine Gates even though it is supposed to be Mystic Nine xD The drama will be released in the second half of July so we should be able to see press conference pictures soon.
I feel bad for Yang Zi since the drama crew is clearly giving more coverage to Li Yifeng, Zhao Liying and the TFBoys. Hehe, I didn’t see those details in the picture at first :P… I think the whole ZLY vs YZ fanwar has cooled down, but the fans of the video game are boiling of frustration. Zhu Xian is definitely one of the most controversial show of this summer ^^

Oops, the Mystic Nine is coming out July 4th (this Sunday)! Really soon. The press conference already occurred I think, but from the known actors, only Zhang Yixing attended. William Chan and ZLY weren’t there. There’s a video game? Actually, I did read somewhere that Yang Zi’s character is the top virtual idol in China (but didn’t know this was a game also)
LikeLike
Ohhh… really? I thought they posponed it due to the lack of press conference! This is really good to know…
Yes, her character’s name is Lu Xueqi and is considered as the goddess of Chinese Video Games. So yes, a lot of debate on this topic when they first announced the casting 😛

As of now, it still says July 4th for the broadcast date so actually this Monday… but, none of the leads have promoted it really?
I feel bad for Yang Zi. It’s not even that she’s unattractive (to play a goddess), it’s just that when compared to the other Chinese actresses who are really slim, have small faces and features… she looks out of place, but the photoshop is too much. She is still pretty 😛

I love your blog!! I’ve gotten into C entertainment this past year and I’ve been cram watching all the good dramas! There really isn’t enough blogs/sites about C entertainment and it’s not as accessible as k entertainment unfortunaletly. I’m so glad I discovered this blog!!
On other news, thank god Kim tae hwan isn’t acting another c drama so I don’t need to watch it. Whilst my amazing boyfriend was amazing, his acting wasn’t LOL I only watched it for Wu Qian as she more than made up for it for his bad acting. So excited to see all the upcoming dramas 😀

^^ Thank you!!! 😀 I started watching cdramas in 2013 and really got into it last year in March. Ever since we started the blog, I have been able to discover a lot of talented actors and idols who have nothing to lose to the kpop world… it is sad there isn’t more coverage of what they do. If you look at these stills, you would know the quality is clearly up there. Which drama do you like the most so far? 😛
I actually didn’t watch My Amazing Boyfriend, but so many people liked it! I want to watch Ice Fantasy soon

Before this binge year, I’ve watched Princess Returning Pearl, Legend of the Condor Heroes, ROCH, Chinese Paladin 1 and 3. Like most people, I started to watch Kdramas. But I’ve since become disenchanted with Kdramas…I dunno…same old characters, same old tropes, etc. Besides you can’t beat these Chinese productions’ budgets. And I miss my wuxia…and the handsome men.

Oh!! Then I believe we started with really similar projects 🙂 I also watched Yi Zhi Mei and Tiang Long Ba Bu.
There is something very fullfilling about Chinese dramas, once you find a good one. It is often hit or miss, but I love the variety of it

I totally see the need to have more than the usual entertainment updates you guys usually have. You make me feel like checking out half the dramas here! On a side note, there are so many actors starting to produce their own dramas now.

lol, I also wish we can produce more articles 😛 But it is temporary… when September hits and school term starts again, there would be even less entertainment updates 😦
Our goal is to make you realize how many awesome dramas there are, you decided to watch them all on your own 😛
Yes, big names like Nicky Wu and Huang Xiaoming. This is interesting because last year… it was mostly about the movies (Deng Chao, Zhao Wei, Alec Su, He Jiong, etc.)

Somehow, I just feel that producing a drama is so much more work and effort and impressive than a movie simply because of the duration of the show. Last year, when I heard about all the movies, I was like ‘oh cool right’. But now I’m like ‘WOW, they are actually capable of doing this too!’ I might be wrong though 😛

It seems to be the goal nowadays – to have your own production company. It’s easier for actors to transition to behind the scenes since age is catching up to them. But not all producers are successful. I think I’ve only liked Ruby’s dramas thus far. Nicky’s Zu Mountain was such a HUGE miss. 😑

Ruby is quite successful, her dramas actually have good quality and content, whereas a lot of other celebrity producers count too much on the cast (Nicky Wu, He Jiong, etc)
I think Alec Su also did a good job with Left Ear 😛
